🛡️ Social Security (NISS)
The NISS is your Social Security number. With it, your work counts towards benefits like sick pay, unemployment support and your pension.
You can ask Segurança Social for it yourself, and employers can also request it when they hire you. Check that your payslip (recibo de vencimento) shows contributions every month.
