Lisbon guide for newcomers

🏠 Finding a room safely

Renting a room (quarto) is the most common start. A deposit (caução) of one or two months is usual.

Never pay before you've seen the place in person or by live video, and you've signed something. Be wary of “landlords abroad” who ask for a transfer.

A proper contract is registered with Finanças, and it helps when you apply for residence.
